What is the course about?

The course aims to enable you to communicate in a Spanish-speaking country in everyday situations, and to enjoy the language and culture of Spain and Latin-American countries.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Daily routine, free time activities, entertainment, likes and dislikes, work, talking about the past (introduction to past tense).

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- describe your daily routine
- talk about free time
- express likes and dislikes
- state how frequently you do some activities
- say what you did yesterday (introduction to the past tense).

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students should have completed Spanish beginners 1 and 2 or have an equivalent knowledge of Spanish (30 hours approximately).

You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and explanations, as well as read course documents, in English. You will need to be at ease with the use of numbers for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time, using the 24 hour clock, reading timetables). It would also be helpful if you had some knowledge of basic grammar terminology such as: a verb, a noun and conjugation.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Communicative, functional approach with emphasis on speaking and listening. Pair and group work; role play; games; audio-visual methods.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

If you want to revise you could attend LBS16 Spanish 1: daily life conversation in summer, LS100 Spanish 1 revision course in September. Your progression route for September is any Spanish 2 lower: module 1.
