What is the course about?

This course aims to give students an opportunity to consolidate the basic structures of Spanish and then to extend their knowledge to include more complex grammatical structures and functions. It will also give an insight into cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries.

What will we cover?

Anecdotes, opinion about books, films, TV programmes, publicity, advertising, instructions, society, education
Grammar: Imperative (affirmative and negative), direct and indirect pronouns, subjunctive (present).

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is intended for students who have completed 'Spanish 3 lower at a gentle pace: module 1' or 'Spanish 3 lower: module 1', or have studied Spanish for at least 3 years recently. Please note this course goes at a slower pace than our standard courses. How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This course offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere which will enable you to learn at your own pace. Your tutor will use a range of teaching strategies to ensure that you gradually build up your confidence in speaking and listening. Throughout the course, you will receive learning tips on how to speak in groups more effectively and independently (without relying on your notes). You will practise listening to spoken language in ways that will maximise your understanding. There will be activities and advice to help you retain vocabulary.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Elisabet is a native speaker from Spain who obtained her degree in Spanish Philology in 2015 at the Universidad de Almería and a MA in Teaching Spanish as a Foreigner Language at the University of Granada in 2017. She is also qualified as a DELE A1/A2 examiner from Instituto Cervantes in London. Elisabet has five years of teaching experience in the UK in several language schools and language centres where she has delivered Spanish lessons for all levels. Her main goal is to make the learning experience enjoyable and practical. Apart from teaching she is passionate about knowing different cultures, traveling and history.
