Description

What is the course about?

This course aims to give students an opportunity to consolidate the basic structures of Spanish and then to extend their knowledge to include more complex grammatical structures and functions. It will also give an insight into cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries.

What will we cover?

Anecdotes, opinion about books, films, TV programmes, publicity, advertising, instructions, society, education
Grammar: Imperative (affirmative and negative), direct and indirect pronouns, subjunctive (present).

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Express opinions about books, films, TV programmes

- Recounting anecdotes

- Give opinions about publicity and advertising

- Give instructions, advice and orders

- Use direct and indirect object pronouns

- Express wishes (Subjunctive)

- Give opinions (Indicative/Subjunctive).

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is intended for students who have studied Spanish for 3 years and completed the Spanish 3 lower: module 1 or have an equivalent level of Spanish.

It is also essential that you have some knowledge of basic grammar terminology such as: a verb, a noun and conjugation. It would be helpful if you had knowledge of more intermediate grammar terminology such as: prepositions, direct and indirect pronouns, subjunctive, main and subordinate clauses.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

This class is challenging, but I felt that I learned a lot due to the enthusiasm of the teacher and the structure of the textbook. I highly recommend this course if you are looking to progress at intermediate level Spanish.

This level is quite demanding so don't go into it unless you have a reasonable level already. However, it is a great opportunity to really progress with Spanish.

Lessons were very enjoyable and well prepared. there was plenty of opportunity to practise conversation and grammar was done in steps. I feel more confident when speaking.
