Tutors: Laila ShariffThe City & Guilds (6502) Award in Education and Training is an initial teacher training course ideal for anyone who teaches adults - or has experience of teaching adults - in Further Education or Adult and Community Learning. We may also consider you if you do not have teaching experience, but are qualified in your subject and have worked in a related field. This course will me mainly online with two sessions at City Lit towards the end of the course. Please note this course will be mainly online, except for sessions 8 and 10, and possibly 11.

This course is free for learners aged 19-23, who meet the residency criteria and who have not previously achieved a full level 3 qualification. You are not eligible for a free place you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE).

The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Humanities and Social Science) is a qualification designed for anyone who has left school without the usual qualifications (GCSEs or A-levels) and wishes to study at university.
It is a highly intensive, fast-track route to higher education, where you will complete the equivalent of 3 A-Levels in one year, and requires attendance ONLINE via ZOOM two nights per week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 6-9.15pm, as well as online tutorials every two to three weeks (from 5pm) and substantial private study. These dates and times are non-negotiable and you are required to attend every session. There may also be optional study sessions at our Central London Campus on one Saturday each term.
Due to the course's intensity, priority will be given to applications from those who are serious and sure about progressing to degree level study and are ready to take on the intense challenge that the year will bring.

The course fee is £2823, plus an upfront fee of £199 payable at the time of your enrolment.
If you are unable to pay the course fee upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to help cover the cost. This course will help you improve your communication skills including reading and writing. It will enable you to become confident in writing longer texts and reading more complex articles, information, descriptions and stories. You will also become more confident at formal and informal conversations. We will look at how English sentences are put together and how you can write more complex sentences confidently. We will see how formal English differs from informal English, which will help you with both your reading and writing. Along the way, you will work on your spelling strategies to improve the accuracy of your written work. And you will learn some useful digital skills including reading and finding information from websites.
