Our stories:

The partnership work of the care and support team was recognised in the Mayor of London’s ‘Skills for Londoners strategy' in June 2018.

Lorraine appeared to be very confident and outgoing, but after a challenging few years she felt she had few options. She was in her fifties, had struggled with alcohol misuse in the past, and was living in temporary hostel accommodation. Lorraine was supported to sign up for an accredited Digital Skills course being run at Thames Reach Employment Academy in partnership with City Lit. Lorraine has since gone on to study Health and Social Care at City Lit and hopes to work in the sector, supporting other people the way that she felt she has been supported. In January 2018, she moved into her own flat. She is volunteering with Thames Reach – and has applied for the Thames Reach paid traineeship.

Lorraine says: “I have had to work hard and it hasn’t always been easy. The difference is that I felt people believed in me.”

We are also proud of our learner Nicola who successfully completed the Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness and win the City Lit Well-Being Award.
