Have you have passed your level 2 in BSL but need more confidence and advice before moving on to a level 3 course? You will improve the standard of your productive and receptive BSL skills to enable you to converse comfortably with a BSL user.

The City & Guilds (6502) Award in Education and Training is an initial teacher training course ideal for anyone who teaches adults - or has experience of teaching adults - in Further Education or Adult and Community Learning. We may also consider you if you do not have teaching experience, but are qualified in your subject and have worked in a related field. The course will be mostly online, with some sessions at City Lit.

Do you sometimes find it hard to tell people you have a hearing loss and to ask them for the support you need? This short course will help you to develop your assertiveness skills.

This course is for people who have a hearing loss and who work in an office environment. It covers a range of common office scenarios and issues that arise for people with hearing loss.

Learn the elements of mindfulness-based stress management and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Experience a range of mindfulness practices. Background theory is included and relevance for clients and therapist well-being benefits will be explored.

'Train the Trainer' is a practical weekend course designed to help you gain ideas for effective facilitation and managing groups. It is suitable if you are thinking of becoming a trainer and want to gain confidence in planning and facilitating the training, or if you are an experienced trainer and want to refresh your practice. You will leave with some tools and techniques that will ensure your training is engaging and productive for your learners. On day 2 you will have the opportunity to deliver a short micro-training or interactive presentation. You are required to attend both days of this course.

Do you feel like a refresh or a fresh start? This 8 week course will help you tackle fears around stammering while working on personal goals, within a supportive group. There will be a focus on exploring more of your natural expressiveness and spontaneity, while challenging beliefs and habits that you wish to tackle. You will also have opportunities to review your strategies, stretch your comfort zones and build your confidence.

Do you know a hard of hearing or deaf person who needs to lipread you? Find out how lipreading works and how you can make some small adjustments in order to become more 'lipreadable'.

This course is free for learners aged 19-23, who meet the residency criteria and who have not previously achieved a full level 3 qualification. You are not eligible for a free place you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE).

The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Humanities and Social Science) is a qualification designed for anyone who has left school without the usual qualifications (GCSEs or A-levels) and wishes to study at university.







It is a highly intensive, fast-track route to higher education, where you will complete the equivalent of 3 A-Levels in one year, and requires attendance ONLINE via ZOOM two nights per week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 6-9.15pm, as well as online tutorials every two to three weeks (from 5pm) and substantial private study. These dates and times are non-negotiable and you are required to attend every session. There may also be optional study sessions at our Central London Campus on one Saturday each term.







Due to the course's intensity, priority will be given to applications from those who are serious and sure about progressing to degree level study and are ready to take on the intense challenge that the year will bring.

The course fee is £2823, plus an upfront fee of £199 payable at the time of your enrolment.



If you are unable to pay the course fee upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to help cover the cost. These sessions can be taught at any level and are designed to help you improve your BSL. You can ask your teacher to give guidance on specific areas of BSL. This can also be used to ‘brush up’ and practise before assessments and exams. If you are on one of our BSL courses and wish to undertake further practice in your own time then this course is for you! Please contact the department for further details and to discuss your requirements. You will then be assigned one of our BSL teachers to work with you.

The City & Guilds (6502) Award in Education and Training (blended) is an initial teacher training course ideal for anyone who teaches adult learners (or has some experience of teaching) in the Further Education and Adult and Community Learning sectors. We may also accept you if you have not taught before but have related work or voluntary experience. You will be asked to attend 4 Saturdays and 1 weekend - Saturdays: 23 and 30 Sept, 4 and 11 Nov; Saturday and Sunday: 2 and 3 Dec. Please note this course will be online except sessions 4 and 5 on 11 Nov and 2 Dec. You may also be asked to come in on 3rd Dec.
