    Have you always wanted to learn British Sign Language and communicate with Deaf people? Develop the skills you need to gain the level 1 BSL qualification, accredited by Signature. The fees for BSL level 1 courses include a year's subscription to Signworld.







    You may wish to study BSL without the pressure of an exam, or just for fun. We can arrange for you to be taught without a formal final assessment and you will receive a certificate of attendance.

  2. Lipreading and managing hearing loss: introduction

    Find out about the skills involved in lipreading and build your confidence in understanding conversations. Suitable if you have little or no experience of lipreading.







    This course will be taught in spoken English and not in sign language.

  3. Art workshop (for people with learning difficulties)

    For students with recognised drawing and painting skills. Build a portfolio of work, participate in a group project. There is an annual opportunity to show your work in an exhibition. Visit galleries and museums for ideas and inspiration.

  4. Percussion orchestra (for people with learning difficulties)

    A class for students who have a recognised instrumental ability. Learn to play percussion instruments. Compose original music as a group. Listen and respond to group members. There are opportunities to perform your music to an audience throughout the year. This is a partnership class with the Royal Academy of Music. The group will be joined fortnightly by three RAM post graduate instrumentalists.

  5. Interiorised stammering
    Evening

    If you often manage to conceal your stammering (also known as stuttering), this course will help you to understand your particular type of stammering, reduce negative feelings, learn strategies to speak more easily and develop self confidence.

    Do you want to develop your communication skills to participate, express and progress at work? This course will use a range of techniques to teach you how to get ahead in work situations. You will be introduced to practical language, vocabulary and skills. You will learn through realistic activities that are based on various work situations. This course has no exam.
