We offer a range of long and short courses allowing you to choose between in-person and online learning.

Learn in the centre of London with our in-person courses. Our purpose-built facilities in Covent Garden mean we are ideally located and easy to get to.

  1. English for deaf people: Word classes (entry 2 - entry 3)

    The aim of the course is to help you to develop your language awareness and knowledge of English grammar in terms of word classes and their functions. You will learn about nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, determiners, prepositions and connectives. You will be signposted to online sources of information and practical exercises which can be used to refine and revise your knowledge throughout the course and after the course has concluded. This course has no exams.

  2. Lipreading and managing hearing loss: advanced

    Develop your lipreading skills and strategies for face-to-face communication and keep up-to-date with relevant equipment and services. This course is suitable if you have completed a lipreading class at improvers' level.

  3. BSL 1:1 coaching

    Location on this date:  Blended (learn both online and in-person)

    These sessions can be taught at any level and are designed to help you improve your BSL. You can ask your teacher to give guidance on specific areas of BSL. This can also be used to ‘brush up’ and practise before assessments and exams. If you are on one of our BSL courses and wish to undertake further practice in your own time then this course is for you! Please contact the department for further details and to discuss your requirements. You will then be assigned one of our BSL teachers to work with you.



    Sessions can be face-to-face or via Zoom.

    Have you always wanted to learn British Sign Language and communicate with Deaf people? Develop the skills you need to gain the level 1 BSL qualification, accredited by Signature. The fees for BSL level 1 courses include a year's subscription to Signworld.







    You may wish to study BSL without the pressure of an exam, or just for fun. We can arrange for you to be taught without a formal final assessment and you will receive a certificate of attendance.

    Explore science subjects without maths - what patterns and shapes can you see in the world around you? Use apps to make artwork, videos and sounds. Make a simple machine that makes its own drawings.Research a subject of your choice and share with the class.

    A foundation course for students new to music making. You will discover a range of musical instruments and study the basic building blocks of music.
