Have you always wanted to learn British Sign Language and communicate with Deaf people? Develop the skills you need to gain the level 1 BSL qualification, accredited by Signature. The fees for BSL level 1 courses include a year's subscription to Signworld.



You may wish to study BSL without the pressure of an exam, or just for fun. We can arrange for you to be taught without a formal final assessment and you will receive a certificate of attendance.

Have you passed your BSL level 1 and are you ready for a level 2 course? Build your skills and knowledge and achieve a level 2 qualification, accredited by Signature.



The assessments could take place either online or face to face. If the assessment takes place online, it will be via Zoom. If the face to face process is used, it will be on a one to one basis with your course tutor.

The City & Guilds (6502) Award in Education and Training is an initial teacher training course ideal for anyone who teaches adults - or has experience of teaching adults - in Further Education or Adult and Community Learning. We may also consider you if you do not have teaching experience, but are qualified in your subject and have worked in a related field. The course will be mostly onlnine, with two sessions at City Lit towards the end of the course (if government guidance permits).

If you have passed level 1 in BSL but are not quite ready to do level 2, this course is for you. Practise storytelling, having conversations and presenting information to others in an unhurried and friendly class.

Learn strategies to help you speak more easily, work on becoming less sensitive about stammering (also known as stuttering), reduce avoidance strategies and be introduced to ways of managing difficult thoughts and feelings. This short intensive course will enable you to make maximum progress in minimum time. This course runs on 10-14 May, then 14-15 June from 9.30-17.30 each day.

The level 2 award in peer mentoring has been developed for learners who want to be peer mentors, giving support to other individuals to enable them to make changes in their lives. The qualification provides an understanding of the peer mentoring process and the key skills used in peer mentoring. You will learn about peer mentoring with young people, people with mental health issues, addictions, homelessness and those who have experienced challenges in their lives. We welcome applications from those who have lived experience in these areas.

Designed for SLTs working with any client group, this interactive workshop will help you develop practical counselling skills. Topics include developing the therapeutic relationship, boundaries, ways of responding, paraphrasing, reflecting, questioning, immediacy, self disclosure and loss.
