What is the course about?

This class aims to introduce you to mixed-media and composition, with a variety of materials and found images using the manipulation of collage, print and paper relief.
Briefly looking at existing artist’s work and that of previous students, you will experiment with materials, processes and image-making, in a fast track but expressive way!

The course may appeal to anyone interested in mixed-media, but also quick expressive image making.

What will we cover?

- Look at existing work.
- Quick intro to mono-print, collage, overlays and composition.
- Group evaluation.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

You should come away with a final piece of expressive collage that you can use for further inspiration.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a course for students who are beginners or just want to try something new.
No experience is needed, but if you already have art skills you could really push your limits in a short time.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Handouts, presentations, demonstrations and practical work with feedback.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

All materials are provided.
If you wish to bring personal and useful images, that would be very welcome.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

You may wish to develop your work in collage and mixed media on one of the 'Contemporary collage and mixed media' courses, 'Abstract drawing', 'Large scale sketchbook' or 'Large-scale drawing and painting' courses.
