What is the course about?

Stories of the City of London: the major events and its people.

This course will be delivered online and in person, and will involve tutor presentation and class discussion. Student preparation and homework outside class times is strongly encouraged. To fully participate in this online class you will need:
- An email address
- A reliable internet connection
- A computer/laptop/tablet with a fully updated browser (preferably google chrome). Your device will need a microphone, and preferably a camera.

What will we cover?

The Roman city, a medieval suburb, Tudor London, the Great Fire of 1666, the Blitz, the Riverside.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...


Explain how and why the City of London has changed over the last 2000 years.
Identify the major buildings and sites, personalities & events associated with London’s history.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

No specific skills needed – just an interest in the history of London. An ability to participate in moderately paced walks and access the initial lecture via Zoom.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Initial lecture via Zoom followed by 6 guuided walks.
