This reading club is for students who have been studying Swedish for a minimum of 2 years. It is suitable for students currently studying a Swedish 2 course. It will involve reading aloud in Swedish and discussing the events of an easy-read version of a Swedish novella.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. - A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer. - Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
Students will read aloud and complete guided reading, aided by the tutor. You will discuss the meanings of unfamiliar words and idioms. This guided reading approach will help consolidate grammar patterns, broaden vocabulary, and help you to improve your pronunciation and intonation.
What will I achieve? By the end of this course you should be able to...
- understand a new range of vocabulary - appreciate which sounds and intonation patterns of Swedish you need to focus on. - discuss the events and characters of a contemporary Swedish novella.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You will have studied Swedish actively for at least 2 years. You should be enrolled on Swedish 2 course (or have equivalent experience).
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
- Preparation for each class: You will have to read one chapter prior to the class to familiarise yourself with the text. - Work in class: You will look at the chapter read before class in more details (vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar) with the tutor and/or the other students through pair and small group discussion.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
We’re sorry. We don’t have a bio ready for the tutor of this class at the moment, but we’re working on it! Watch this space.
