Digital skills are universal, as essential as English and Maths for making progress at work, expressing yourself and participating socially.

Our Digital and Office Skills courses develop all your key digital and computing skills from beginner to advanced. You do not learn just the software but focus on the tasks and goals digital skills help you achieve whether analysing data at work or organising your photos on your smartphone. 

You also develop the most in-demand common work and life skills such as problem-solving, analysing, decision-making, working together, attending to details and seeing the bigger picture.

Whether you are a recently redundant manager, a carer returning to work, an experienced office-worker or a retiree, our digital skills courses will help you upskill, communicate more effectively, and become a more active citizen.

You can choose long or short courses, online or in-person, with qualifications or without.

  6. Business administration with digital skills: how to be organised, efficient and customer-focused using Outlook and OneNote (intermediate)

    Does the amount of data coming into your inbox and folders threaten to overwhelm you? Do you need to develop a system for managing information, tasks and meetings? MS Outlook and OneNote can be part of this system but for many people they feel part of the problem rather than the solution. This course will enable them to work for you not the other way round. You will focus on how to think about problems, solve them and what you are trying to achieve. You will work on developing an email routine that allows you to concentrate on tasks at hand and not be distracted by incoming messages. You will focus on how to create a folder system on Outlook and process using quick steps, rules, categories and colour-coding so you can keep a trace of emails, tasks and appointments. You will learn simple and efficient ways to schedule your work and use notes and task and the flagging system to keep track of your priorities.     Knowing how to handle large amounts of data, analyse it effectively and then present the findings are essential workplace skills. A recent study found 88% of employers want employees with data analysis skills. This intermediate Excel course will help you develop these skills by focusing on common workplace tasks and problems that require some of the more complex Excel functions. You will focus on how to handle large amounts of data and convert it into usable, valuable information. You will develop your skills so you can work with different formulae and functions to create for example automated budgets that take into account variable conditions.     Collaborating within the workplace is more important than ever. In almost all jobs you need to coordinate work, build relationships and cope with complexity this entails. Microsoft Teams is an essential digital tool to enable this. This course you will help you develop your collaborating skills by learning how to use Teams' key features, and why, when and how you should use them. You will practise how to set up Teams and channels and what you use these for. You will learn how to use files in Teams, how to collaborate and co-author them, how you can keep track of collaborations and sync your files across different devices You will also focus on how Teams relates to SharePoint and OneDrive, and how manage your files efficiently.
