Digital skills are now a universal skill that is as essential to participating, progressing and expressing yourself within society as English and Maths.

Our Digital and Office Skills courses will develop all of your general digital and computing skills from beginner to advanced and do so in a way that situates your learning and prepares you for the world outside the classroom, for working and non-working life. You will not only develop your digital abilities but also the most in-demand skills for life: problem-solving, analysing, decision-making, working together, attending to details and seeing the bigger picture.

Whether you are recently redundant, returning to work, looking to upskill, or wanting to do everyday tasks and communicate better with family and friends, we have the courses to help you succeed.

All our courses are run by experienced and creative tutors who will ensure you learn at the right level and pace with all the support you need. We are here to help you become an active digital citizen.

  1. Becoming confident with online communication: Zoom

    Are you new to Zoom? Have you started to use it but are unsure about some of its functions? Do you need to use Zoom at work, in your studies or to communicate with friends and relatives? Zoom is now as essential to communication as texts, emails, smartphones and PCs. This course will take you from the basics of being on Zoom as a participant and a host, including how to join meetings and set them up. You will learn what to do in both circumstances, what appropriate etiquette is, how to use chat and other features such as breakout rooms, how to share your screen, take control of someone else's screen and how to make sure you don't do something on Zoom that you shouldn't.



    By the end of this course, you will be able to comfortably host a meeting with friends or work colleagues, communicate, privately share and collaborate on projects or ideas.

  4. Business administration: how to organise with OneNote (intermediate)

    How do you keep on top of your notes, to do list, tasks, meetings and ideas? Are you still using paper notebooks and post-it notes? Is there too much in your head cluttering your mind? This course will show how to use the digital notebook, OneNote so you become a more organised administrator. You will learn how to take notes at any time and arrange them so you can always find what you are looking for. You will practise how to create sections, pages and sub-pages and organise them effectively. You will learn how to create tags so you can find notes across sections. In addition you will learn other useful tips on how to make the most of OneNote, for example to make calculations, translate text, edit text inside images and use digital sticky notes. By the end of the course you will have clear idea of how to be organised digitally and be on your way to a paperless office.

  5. Becoming confident on the cloud: a new way of sharing and working with files (Google)

    The digital world is changing from sending emails to sharing files. Attaching files, sending them, downloading them, working on them, saving them, re-attaching and re-sending them is becoming a thing of the past. Instead, with cloud computing, you can share and collaborate on files either at the same time or separately without any emailing or downloading. Join this course and learn how to do this and stay on top of your file management. Learn how to use google Drive to create, store, share and collaborate on different types of documents on your PC as well as other devices. Discover also how to maintain security while syncing your devices and accounts.     Do you want to know that you can work to an outstanding level in any work environment requiring an expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access? Do you want a qualification to prove these skills? The Level 3 Certificate in IT User Skills (ECDL Advanced) will give you exceptional proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software, and will improve your productivity in using IT. You will gain all the skills you need to work at the highest level in an office environment. This course may be free if it is your first L3 qualification or you earn less than the living wage. The Advanced Learner Loan is also available.

  13. Excel 365's Dynamic Array Functions

    Learn how to use Excel 365's Dynamic Array Functions - powerful techniques that work on an array (series) of data in an Excel Workbook.



    Students should have a PC or laptop with Excel 365 App installed, please note that an early version of Excel will not be compatible for the course to complete the tasks, you can have a pen and paper to take notes. Please note, certain commands do not work in Office 365 online and thus the installed Microsoft Office is required. Should you wish to install the desktop version of Office 365 on your computer, you can request a temporary licence from us by emailing at computing@citylit.ac.uk at least 3 days before the start of the course.
