Introduction To Digital Skills Courses in London

Do you need to improve your digital skills on the computer, smartphone or tablet? Do you want to increase your confidence to partcipate in the new virtual office or the regular face-to-face workplace? The coronavirus crisis has shown how necessary digital skills are both inside and outside your job. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced learner, returning to work, recently redundant, looking to upskill or wanting to communicate with family and friends, we have the courses to help you.

Choose our Becoming Confident series if you are a beginner, join our Microsoft Office for the Workplace courses if you already have some digital skills or do a qualification course. If you are an administrator or would like to be, take a look at our Touch-Typing and How to be an Administrator courses.

Our experienced and creative tutors will ensure you learn at the right level and pace with all the support you need. And enable you to become an active digital citizen.

Our courses are FREE to most learners if you earn less than £20, 962 a year or are unemployed. Some are now taking place in the City Lit building. The majority are live online interactive classes. You will need a computer with a microphone, a camera and the internet. It is best to use Google Chrome. If you need help with our online courses, we have special classes to get you started.

    Do you have lots of questions about your computer? Too afraid to ask them? This complete course will guide you through the key aspects of using a PC or laptop. How can it be used for home life and in business? What does it mean to share a file rather than email an attachment? Learn how to use the main free Cloud apps including Google Docs and Forms, Dropbox and Flickr and how to maintain security while syncing your devices.   4. Essential digital skills for work (Level 1)

    Are you new to computing? Do you have some digital skills but lack confidence to use them? Would you like to gain the most essential digital skills needed for today's workplace? If you need to develop the foundational digital skills for today's job market, this is the course for you. The course will give you the confidence to use digital devices and tools to collaborate and communicate efficiently with work colleagues, to create documents and presentations, and make simple spreadsheets. You will learn the transferable digital skills you need to progress, participate and express yourself in the workplace. You will also gain a qualification. 53% of UK employees do not have the digital skills needed for work. You don't need to one of them.

  5. Digital security: how to protect your data and privacy on your PC, Internet and smartphone

This complete course for beginners takes you from very start of an internet connection to being able to search and use the web effectively to find information, complete forms, buy goods, download music and watch TV online.   8. Becoming confident with mobile data: managing and syncing your files across your laptop, smartphone and tablet

    Are you using a smartphone and a PC? Have you asked yourself 'How did my photos get on my mobile device - I didn't put them there?' Lots of modern devices and gadgets have a sync feature to keep users from losing data and enable them to access their files on multiple devices and from wherever they are. This course will help you manage your files across multiple devices so you can be sure where your different files are and how they are organised and accessible.
