We have a huge range of courses to support you in your learning in programming and coding, help you understand new developments in technology with AI, machine learning, data analysis with Python and statistics, give you the tools to succeed in business and digital marketing, or enable you to explore more of the world around you with our science and nature courses.

Our tutors are highly qualified industry professionals, and will help you reach your personal goals whether you are a complete beginner or are building on existing experience.

Our business and technology courses are designed to help you enter employment, advance or reskill in career or start your own business. Currently they are free if you are a) on a Low Wage or b) on Jobseekers' Allowance (JSA) or Employment & Support Allowance(ESA) or c) receive other state benefits (including Universal Credit). Please note that only courses with a start date in 2021 are eligible.

You will need to seek authorisation to enrol on our free Skills for Work courses if:

  1. you are enrolling on our free courses for the first time and want to enrol on more than 2 courses , or
  2. you have already completed free courses and would like to make further enrolments

  2. Digital skills for the workplace: using Excel (foundation)

    Do you need to learn how to use Excel for the office or to keep track of your finances? Do you want to be able to handle, present data and make calculations inside and outside of work? This course is perfect for anyone who needs a good foundation on the basics of Microsoft's popular spreadsheet program. On this course, you will learn how to enter and present data and make it visually appealing, readable and usable through changes of font, style, use of tables and other formatting features. You will practise making calculations, using functions and formulae, modifying links between worksheets, as well as creating basic charts and graphs - a great way of visualizing data!

    Ever wondered what quantum theory is? Are you baffled by relativity? Learn about the interpretations of quantum physics and what it means for our conception of reality.







    Radmila Topalovic holds a degree in Physics with Astrophysics and a PhD in Astrochemistry. She has taught physics, maths and astronomy for almost ten years, and is particularly passionate about quantum physics and astrobiology. She is a former astronomer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

  5. Workplace skills: how to be organised and self-managing using OneNote and MS Outlook (intermediate)
    Course start date:  Wed 18 May 2022

    How do you keep on top of your notes, to do list, tasks, meetings and ideas? Are you still using paper notebooks and post-it notes? Is there too much in your head cluttering your mind? This course will show how to use the digital notebook, OneNote, in conjunction with Outlook to you become organised and self-managing. You will learn how to take notes at any time and arrange them so you can always find what you are looking for. You will practise how to integrate Outlook and OneNote so you can organise meetings and share meeting notes and minutes easily and quickly, record the meetings, relate sections of the audio to tasks and action points for yourself and others, create to do lists, and link these tasks to tasks and emails in Outlook . In addition you will learn other useful tips on how to make the most of OneNote, for example to make calculations, translate text and edit text inside images. By the end of the course you will have clear idea of how to be organised digitally and have developed the necessary skills to put your ideas into practice.
