We have a huge range of courses to support you in your learning in programming and coding, help you understand new developments in technology with AI, machine learning, data analysis with Python and statistics, give you the tools to succeed in business and digital marketing, or enable you to explore more of the world around you with our science and nature courses.

Our tutors are highly qualified industry professionals, and will help you reach your personal goals whether you are a complete beginner or are building on existing experience.

Our business and technology courses are designed to help you enter employment, advance or reskill in career or start your own business. Currently they are free if you are a) on a Low Wage or b) on Jobseekers' Allowance (JSA) or Employment & Support Allowance(ESA) or c) receive other state benefits (including Universal Credit). Please note that only courses with a start date in 2021 are eligible.

You will need to seek authorisation to enrol on our free Skills for Work courses if:

  1. you are enrolling on our free courses for the first time and want to enrol on more than 2 courses , or
  2. you have already completed free courses and would like to make further enrolments

    Are you new to computing? Do you have some digital skills but lack confidence to use them? Would you like to gain the most essential digital skills needed for today's workplace? If you need to develop the foundational digital skills for today's job market, this is the course for you. The course will give you the confidence to use digital devices and tools to collaborate and communicate efficiently with work colleagues, to create documents and presentations, and make simple spreadsheets. You will learn the transferable digital skills you need to progress, participate and express yourself in the workplace. You will also gain a qualification. 53% of UK employees do not have the digital skills needed for work. You don't need to one of them.

    Are you able to find the files you need on your PC or on your work's shared drive? Do you know how to search for missing files? Have you got a system to organise your work or home files? Files are the essential components of computer use and it is vital to manage them well especially as cloud use becomes more common.     Do you want to know that you can work to an outstanding level in any work environment requiring an expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access? Do you want a qualification to prove these skills? The Level 3 Certificate in IT User Skills (ECDL Advanced) will give you exceptional proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software, and will improve your productivity in using IT. You will gain all the skills you need to work at the highest level in an office environment. This course may be free if it is your first L3 qualification. The Advanced Learner Loan is also available.

If you are unable to pay this upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to help cover the course fee, repayable after the course ends. A deposit of £200 is also payable to secure your place (refundable after you complete the course).
