We will explore how the real events of the Cold War played out in the corridors of power and on the streets of London as East and West vied for the hearts and minds of a global public. We will also examine the relationship between real events and post-War British culture in the work of key writers and film-makers.

By the end of the course you should be able to identify the main events of the Cold War as they relate to the history and geography of London. You should also become familiar with key writers and films associated with the Cold War and their associated sites in the city.
