What is the course about?
We will explore the origins of English words which actually date back to Greece. We will discuss the impact of the Hellenistic languages on Western languages.

The origins of English words and Greek mythology.

By the end of this course you should be able to...
- recognise common Greek roots in English words
- relate some Greek myths to psychology.

You don’t need to speak Greek for this course and no particular skills are needed.

This is a face-to-face class. You will be encouraged to participate.

Maria Contos has published many stories with mythical themes. She has also written and performed puppet shows and plays based on myths. She has adopted myths for television and theatre, teaches mythology and runs creative writing workshops. She also teaches languages.
