What is the course about?

This course supports students with generating ideas, pitching and securing repeat work from editors, and explores useful programs, websites and applications for journalists.

What will we cover?

- Generating ideas.
- Getting work, and repeat work.
- Useful accessories, programs, books and websites.
-.Working to deadline and managing finances.
- Understanding contracts.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Generate journalistic ideas that sell.
- Develop your understanding of how to pitch and write articles editors want.
- Understand the logistical elements of being a freelance journalist.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an introductory course. Students will need to be able to write fluently in English.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

A mix of pair work, group work, tutor-led presentation, reading exercises and writing exercises.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

All students are invited to join us at Late Lines, our regular performance night for City Lit writers.
