Observe a range of trees in the field, outline shape, bark, twigs, flowers and leaves
List at least 10 special trees in Battersea Park.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is an introductory course, no previous knowledge is assumed. You must be confident using public transport by yourself to go from City Lit to the meeting point in Battersea Park in the afternoon. Everyone makes their own way, we do not travel as a group. Detailed directions will be given in the morning session. As the tree walk will end at a different place from where it started, it is important you check with the tutor before you leave, that you are confident how to find your way back to the bus/tube independently at the end of the afternoon.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Practical sessions, group and paired work, observation activities
Tree walk in Battersea Park in the afternoon.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
No other costs. Bring strong outdoor walking shoes and waterproof jacket as walks take place whatever the weather .
A notebook and pencil will be useful. If you already have any tree books or a hand lense, bring them with you plus map of London.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
