What is the course about?
With an emphasis on an 'experimental' approach to generating images and visualising ideas; this course will cover a combination of both hands-on cut and paste techniques with computer skills using the latest software. No need to have a design background just a curious mind and an interest in delving deeper into the creative world of visual communication.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- create visual solutions using both hands-on and digital skills.
- have an understanding of the basic design elements
- use Illustrator to create design layouts.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is for beginners.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will be taught with workshops, short lectures, practical exercises, tutorials and handouts. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Digital arts, Graphics & Illustration and Photography.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
It would be useful to bring an A4 or A5 hardback sketchbook and you may wish to bring a USB drive if you’d like to take your work home.
