In this fun practical session you will learn how you can use InDesign for your publishing or marketing needs and have enjoy creating a publicity document with text and Image.


What is the course about?

This course is to offer you a taster into the versatile desktop and digital publishing software InDesign.
Experience how accessible the software is by learning how to layout a basic flyer using text and images.

What will we cover?

- Why use Adobe InDesign?
- A brief introduction to the InDesign Interface
- Introduction to creating a document
- Importing an image into a document
- Transforming your image
- Creating and modifying text
- Saving your document.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Understand some of the uses Adobe InDesign?
- Have an overview of the InDesign Interface
- create a new document
- Import an image into a document
- Transform your image
- Create and modify text
- Save your document.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a beginners’ course.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught using a range of techniques including workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, tutorials, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Animation, Cartooning, Digital arts, Film, Graphics, Illustration, Photography and Web design.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.).

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

You can develop your skills further in VK469 Graphic design: stage 1. City Lit offer a range of courses in Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation, Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign to enhance your Design practice.
