What is the course about?

This introductory day builds a clear and embodied understanding of trauma as a nervous system response. Participants explore what trauma is, what can cause it, and how it presents in the body and behaviour.This course provides the foundation for recognising trauma responses in everyday and professional contexts.

What will we cover?

We will cover the following topics:

• The stress response and nervous system activation
• Survival responses such as fight, flight, freeze and fawn
• Triggers and how “the body remembers”
• Early signs of activation
• Personal reflection and basic regulation awareness

By the end of this course you should be able to...

Have an understanding of the basics of trauma and it's definitions. Recognise trauma responses, triggers, and signs in individuals.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an introductory-level course, suitable for beginners and those with limited prior knowledge of trauma. This course is designed as a progression, though they may be attended individually.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course will be delivered through a mix of presentations, group discussions, case studies, to enhance learning and engagement. There is no required work outside the class, but additional resources will be provided for further learning.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

There are no other costs for this course. We recommend you bring a notepad and pen.
