Racism and racial justice
The formal end to colonialism did not end one the most central and corrosive practices of colonial empire.
The racialisation of individuals, groups and communities, if not entire peoples, continues long after the global process of decolonisation ended.
Through racist thought and practice, the links between the imperial past and our supposedly post-imperial present still run deep, with distinct differences across former metropoles, former colonies and settler colonial societies.
These links impact all spheres of societies around the world to this day, from everyday practices in policing, migration and land ownership regimes over wider justice systems to mainstream political thought.
To help build understanding of this still globally significant problem, we have organised a series of short courses on questions of race, racism and racial justice.
We are very pleased to be able to host Ilyas Nagdee, the director of Racial Justice at Amnesty International UK, for the free keynote: Who is presumed guilty? Amnesty International UK keynote on predictive policing, Prevent and protest clampdowns.
Please look for the keynote and our other sessions below.
