This reading club is for near beginners, you should have studied on a Welsh beginners course at City Lit or have equivalent experience. It will involve reading aloud in Welsh and discussing, which will help consolidate grammar patterns learnt on City Lit Welsh courses, as well as broadening vocabulary, pronunciation, and intonation of whole phrases.

This reading club is for near beginners, you should have studied on a Welsh beginners course at City Lit or have equivalent experience.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
- Preparation for each class: You will have to read one chapter prior to the class to familiarise yourself with the text. - Work in class: You will look at the chapter read in more details (vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar…) with the tutor and/or the other students through pair and small group discussion.

Rhianwen Daniel is a researcher and tutor specialising in nationalism studies, political ideologies, and the relationship between language and culture. She holds a PhD in politics and international relations and teaches courses in politics and the Welsh language at City Lit. Rhianwen has lectured at universities in Cardiff, Reading, and Germany, and published a range of articles in peer-reviewed and journalistic outlets. Rhianwen welcomes all kinds of viewpoints and greatly encourages the sharing of cross-cultural perspectives in all classes.
