What is the course about?

This 6 session course is for absolute beginners and is divided into 2 parts.

In Part 1, you'll gain an introduction to basic Welsh learning how to pronounce the sounds of the language and introduce yourself.

In Part 2, you'll learn how to read basic passages in simple Welsh in guided reading sessions.

What will we cover?

- greetings & exchanging basic personal information
- expressing likes and dislikes
- the sounds of Welsh
- reading basic passages on simple topics.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- hold a basic factual exchange in Welsh with a stranger (giving your name, where you're from, where you live)
- be able to read basic passages of simple Welsh
- be able to confidently pronounce unfamiliar words.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is for absolute beginners. No previous experience of learning Welsh is required.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material. All material will be available on Google Classroom to support your learning outside of class.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.
