A vital course for any cyclist - improve flexibility, technique and breathing.

Description

What is the course about?

Cyclists draw on the strength of particular muscles which over time become bunched up and tight creating stress and tension and sometimes complications. This course introduces yoga postures and practices that target the release and lengthening of these muscles resulting in overall physical relief, enhanced posture and a lighter more fluid flow of the cycling movement. Yoga also protects the body by making it stronger. Breathing and relaxation practices reduce stress both on and off the bike.

What will we cover?

The benefits of yoga post cycling.
How yoga can enhance the cycling experience.
Yoga asana practice targeting neck, shoulders, chest, hips, hamstrings and feet.
Breathing and relaxation practices.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Descibe the benefits gained from yoga
Practice a variety of appropriate postures
Take home a regular post cycling practice
Demonstrate breathing and relaxation practices to calm the mind.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

All levels welcome, including beginners.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Demonstartions, instruction and explanations
Individual practice
Q&A
You will be encouraged to develop your own practice outside of class.

Any yoga or meditation course.

Go for it! It was long enough to cover specifics of yoga for cycling, and we learned a lot of different poses over the four weeks. Sarah was a very careful teacher who was sensitive to the needs of each student.
