Course Date: Thu 6 Aug 2020
    Location on this date: Online
In the past few months, public debates about the European imperial past(s) have touched on issues such as, for example, statues, school subjects, reparations, apologies and in many cases also the politics of race. However, these debates also have histories of their own, being connected to the different processes of decolonisation and the ways in which these took place. At the heart of these debates are the questions of whether something can be simultaneously past and present and who gets to decide whether it is one or the other. Join us for two seminars of discussion on the main themes, differences and directions in these debates in both Western and Eastern Europe as well as Russia.
