S’il est une notion commune à l’histoire et à la littérature, c’est sans nul doute l’événement. Depuis quatre décennies, elle s’est trouvée au cœur de nombreux débats historiographiques, philosophiques et littéraires. Les événements historiques sont de plus en plus souvent abordés à partir de leurs traces mémorielles, qui contribuent à construire et déconstruire leurs interprétations.
Ce module étudiera la manière don’t les œuvres littéraires enregistrent, transposent et transmettent des événements historiques en privilégiant avant tout la fiction. Les extraits de romans étudiés portent sur les littératures française et francophone des Xxème et XXIème siècles, et traitent d’événements historiques tels que les révolutions politiques, les répressions coloniales, les crimes contre l’humanité et les luttes sociales contemporaines.
