    Marcel Pagnol, écrivain, dramaturge, cinéaste et producteur français, devient célèbre avec Marius, pièce représentée au théâtre en mars 1929. Il fonde sa propre société de production et studio de cinéma, et réalise de nombreux films avec les grands acteurs de la période. Élu à l'Académie française en 1946, il s'éloigne du cinéma et du théâtre après 1956, et entreprend, entre autres œuvres, la rédaction de ses souvenirs d'enfance.

    Alfred Hitchcock established his reputation early on in his British career, particularly with a series of thrillers that showcased his distinctive style. This course explores his British films and the factors that helped to shape his filmmaking and, subsequently, his reputation as a major film artist, while also considering his position in, and relationship to British cinema of the 1920s and 1930s.
