  2. Essential digital skills for work (Level 1)

    Do you have some digital skills but lack confidence to use them? Would you like to gain the most essential digital skills needed for today's workplace? If so, and you need to develop the foundational digital skills for today's job market, this is the course for you. The course will give you the confidence to use different digital devices and tools to collaborate and communicate efficiently with work colleagues, to create and edit documents and presentations, and make simple spreadsheets. You will learn about different types of digital communication as well as how to use online resources for finding and using information and completing transactions. You will learn the transferable digital skills you need to progress, participate and express yourself in the workplace and gain a qualification. 53% of UK employees do not have the digital skills needed for work. You don't need to be one of them.

    Do you want to gain a Maths GCSE but are not ready yet to achieve this in a single year? Do you need to test your abilities before attempting the qualification course? Then this Getting Ready for Maths GCSE is the course for you. It will prepare you for the accreditation and familiarise you with its content, level and expectation. You will need to complete and pass an initial assessment before starting this course to demonstrate at least a Level 1 Functional Skills level of Maths.   4. Digital skills for deaf people: improve your English by researching life stories of famous people and sharing their stories in BSL (Entry 3 - Level 2)

    You will learn different research strategies, understanding where to look for information. You will learn how to skim and scan different texts to find the details you need. You will make notes identifying the source of your information and then finalise scripts to help you to deliver the presentation. You will be able to give a well-structured presentation with an introduction and conclusion, and use features of BSL such as: timelines, placements, referencing and enumeration. You will also learn BSL presentation skills such as how to introduce your topic, share the main points of information and summarise what you have covered.

Would you like to be an administrator but want to develop your email writing, reading, spelling and punctuation? This course will improve all your communication skills so you can feel confident at work You will work on how to speak well when working with the public or other clients, how to respond calmly to difficult situations. You will practise how t to write emails and messages, how to organise them, use paragraphs and write good introductions and conclusions. You will develop your sentences using good grammar and vocabulary, plus correct spelling and punctuation. Throughout the course, you will work on your reading so you can understand the overall meaning of work-based texts, see the bigger picture, find details and specific information, and make decisions based on your reading. By the end of the course you will have the range of expression and accuracy in English to work with confidence.
