Deaf Awareness Training
Being deaf aware is a great way to encourage an inclusiveenvironment in your workplace.
Deaf awareness and British Sign Language (BSL) run by our Centre for Deaf Education
Practical and informative courses where you can gain basic knowledge of deafness & communication skills. You also have the option to learn basic signs & fingerspelling to assist communication with BSL users. Our workshops can be used to improve access for deaf, hard of hearing or deafblind people.
Deaf Awareness Training Options
Deaf Awareness Training can be delivered at your premises and can be tailor-made to meet your specific training needs.
- Deaf Awareness workshops (3 hours)

BSL Training
Learn work-related signs to improve access for BSL users at your place of work.
BSL courses
Introduction courses to BSL for the workplace. Learn signs & phrases in BSL, increase your understanding of BSL and assist communication with BSL users. Topics can be varied depending on the group of staff and tailored to meet the needs of your organisation. Sessions can be spread over a number of weeks or months to suit your availability.
BSL Training Options
BSL workshops and courses, delivered at your place of work, that can be tailored to meet the needs of your organisation.
- Basic BSL workshop ½ day (3 hours)
- Basic BSL workshop full day (5 hours)
- Introduction to BSL – 10 or 20 hours -2 hours per week-morning or afternoon OR 5 hours per week
- We also offer accredited BSL courses
Located in Central London, City Lit has been providing Deaf Education for over 50 years
