What is the course about?
This course will prepare you for working in an office as a receptionist, administrator or in customer care. You will learn the English you need to be able to do your job well: how to answer and make calls, speak to customers and work colleagues, how to sound professional, take part in meetings, write formal and informal emails and letters and how to spell common words at work. You will also learn some basic digital skills so you can be confident on the computer.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is for students of English at Level 1-Level 2. It is aimed mainly at fluent English speakers who can communicate in basic everyday situations but want to be more confident and articulate in their speaking, listening, reading and writing at work. However. ESOL learners with good speaking and writing skills will also find this course useful but it will not be focussing on grammar correction, but more on expression and communication. It will be particularly useful if you are working in an office or would like to do that. You need to have some basic digital skills e.g. simple word processing and use of email.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will learn in a supportive and welcoming environment with an emphasis on your discovering how to do and complete tasks, with guidance from the tutor. You will work on your own and with other students on different tasks so you are always practising important in-demand life and work skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, prioritising, negotiating, collaborating and independence. You will learn in a step by step manner so you can complete challenging tasks in enjoyable and relaxing ways. Your tutor will also work with you individually so you know how to improve and how to work in a way that improves your learning. You will need to do work outside the classroom and use Google Classroom to help you.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
There are no additional costs but you should bring a pen, paper and folder to class. You will need to access Google Classroom throughout the course.
