What is the course about?

This course delves deeper into the tools Premiere offers for a faster and more precise editing experience.
In order to use the tools effectively, you will learn why they exist in the first place. Once you see them as an expression about structure and content, you can begin to use them with ease.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

• Prepare your timeline – allocate tracks
• Edit with the keyboard shortcuts – placement, edits, movements
• Invisible effects - using effects to better effect
• Basic masking.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Match tracks with functionality
• Place clips in appropriate tracks using track-allocation
• Employ at least 3 basic shortcuts to append, overwrite, overlay and insert
• Choose and place an effect to improve your edit
• Create a basic mask.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is designed for learners who have completed at least a basic course (level 1, preferably level 2), or who have a good foundational understanding of basic editing commands and concepts and who wish to increase their speed and understanding of some more advanced tools in editing.

I am particularly interested in enabling people’s own capacity, teaching them both practical skills (e.g. use of software and technical aspects of filmmaking) alongside conceptual underpinnings and critical engagement (version of visual literacy).” She has been teaching film and video related subjects ever since her own postgraduate student days.
