What is the course about?
Discover the breadth of opportunities in the field of illustration; then have a go at a simple editorial illustration. You will be guided through options for researching your subject and some of the ways to begin generating and communicating your idea. This course is an ideal introduction if you are thinking about either, starting Illustration for Beginners, or developing your practice with our projects 2 and other workshops on offer.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a short introduction. All levels welcome.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
This is a practical studio-based session. You will be taught using demonstrations and individual and group guidance.

All basic materials and equipment will be provided.

This is an ideal introduction to VK522 Illustration for beginners. Adam Graff is an artist, educator, and award-winning illustrator with a wealth of industry experience. His time is divided between his professional/ personal practice and teaching. Adam is a senior lecturer with over 20 years of teaching experience. He is currently the BA illustration pathway leader at the University of Hertfordshire and has taught, lectured, and spoken on the subject across the country. Having served 12 years on the board of the Association of Illustrators he has developed a broad understanding of illustrator’s needs as well as forging close links to industry. Adam’s illustrations have been internationally published, most recently in Le Monde Diplomatique Germany and received a variety of industry awards. His impressive client list includes ANORAK magazine, BBC Worldwide, British Telecom, The Guardian, Lazy Oaf, MTV, Sainsbury’s, Science Museum, TimeOut London, The Times, and Transport for London. Adam is co-director of the Illustration collective Hero of Switzerland who have exhibited at The House of Illustration, (LIF) London Illustration Fair, OXO Tower, PICK ME UP, Somerset House, and We Built This City, Carnaby Street.
