What is the course about?

This course aims to further improve your lower intermediate French, at a gentle pace. You will build up your confidence by learning the language gradually with the emphasis on speaking and listening.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Topics: talk about future plans. Write a formal letter in French (i.e.: complaining in a hotel...) making wishes,

Grammar: making comparisons, introduction to pronoun Y and relative pronouns (qui & que), revision of "futur proche" and introduction of simple future, introduction to the conditional.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- have more confidence in your ability to understand and be understood in simple French

- recognise and pronounce French sounds more accurately

- make comparisons

- write a formal letter in French

- express your wishes

- make plans for the future

Please note that the above outcomes are flexible as the pace of the lessons will depend on the achievements of the group of students.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

French 2 upper at a gentle pace: module 3 course. You should have completed French 2 upper at a gentle pace: module 2 or have done two years of French recently.
It is also essential that you have some knowledge of basic grammar terminology such as: a verb, a noun and conjugation. It would be helpful if you had knowledge of more intermediate grammar terminology such as:subjunctive, conditional and pronouns.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Based on the course book French 2 Palgrave Foundations, second edition, by Kate Beeching & Annie Fontaine Lewis. Please note that the course book is used as a support only and that you will not cover all the activities in the book during the course.
