What is the course about?
This workshop focuses on developing your listening skills at upper intermediate level. You will learn how to recognise difficult sounds in French and improve your listening comprehension with a mixture of exercises and authentic documents.
What will we cover?
We will improve your understanding of radio/TV programmes such as the news. We will also have a look at different accents which you will encounter among French speakers, and identify many fillers used in speech such as "ben, heu", etc.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- better understand spoken French by improving your recognition of difficult sounds in the language
- be aware of different accents among French speakers
- extract the main information from TV/radio broadcasts more easily.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Suitable for intermediate to upper intermediate students of French (at least 3/4 years of study or equivalent).
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.
