What is the course about?

This course aims to encourage you to speak French more freely. It will develop your listening skills, reinforce your confidence and increase your knowledge of French through a variety of contexts ranging from personal to social.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Grammar: revision/consolidation of past tenses (passé composé & imparfait), future tenses (futur simple & futur proche) and pronouns.

Themes: a variety of topics related to France and French-speaking countries will be selected depending on current issues and/or tutor's appropriate material.

You will receive a detailed syllabus of the course at the beginning of the term.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- talk in the future and in the past using the right tenses
- use pronouns accurately
- express opinions on various topics
- have a wider range of vocabulary

Please note that the learning outcomes may vary depending on the general progress made by the students.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

French 3 lower: module 1. Students should have studied French for at least 3 years or have completed a French 2 upper course.

It is also essential that you have some knowledge of basic grammar terminology (e.g. verb, noun, conjugation). It would be helpful if you had knowledge of more intermediate grammar terminology (e.g. subjunctive, conditional and pronouns).

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Homework will be based on: Grammaire progressive du français, niveau intermédiaire - new edition (CLE International). Please note that the book is used as a support only. You will not cover all the activities in the book during the course.

Please try: The European Bookshop - http://www.europeanbookshop.com (020 7734 5259) to get 10% discount as a City Lit student.
