French 3 lower: module 3

What is the course about?

This course gets you speaking French more freely and with confidence. You’ll sharpen your listening skills, gain fluency, and broaden your knowledge of French through lively, real‑world contexts - from personal topics to social issues.

You’ll practise sharing personal experiences (e.g. talking about your life, interests, or opinions), take part in everyday and social discussions (e.g. work, lifestyle, current topics), and listen to authentic spoken French such as interviews, conversations, and short reports - responding and interacting with others along the way.

What will we cover?

Topics covered
Learners will explore cinema, education, and information, with opportunities to discuss how these areas shape society and everyday life.

Language focus
The course develops learners’ ability to use the relative pronoun dont, the present subjunctive to express wishes, reported speech, indirect questions, and the passive voice, allowing for more structured and nuanced communication.

Cultural content
Cultural topics include discovering Paris through film, exploring the work of Daniel Pennac, and examining new social trends in the French‑speaking world.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Share opinions about a film using more complex sentence structures and specialist vocabulary
  (e.g. Ce film m’a particulièrement marqué, car il aborde des thèmes sociaux importants et la mise en scène est très réussie.)

• Discuss the topic of education using more complex sentence structures and specialist vocabulary
  (e.g. Je pense que le système éducatif devrait évoluer afin de mieux répondre aux besoins des étudiants aujourd’hui.)

• Respond to and comment on others’ opinions about new media
  (e.g. Je comprends ton point de vue sur les réseaux sociaux ; cependant, je pense qu’ils peuvent aussi jouer un rôle positif dans l’accès à l’information.)

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

French 3 Lower: Module 3

This course is suitable for students who have studied French recently for at least three years or who have completed French 3 Lower: Module 2.

To join the course, you should be able to:

• express opinions using more complex sentence structures
• express feelings using more complex sentence structures

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.

This course uses Google Classroom, a digital learning platform where all the teaching and learning resources can be found. Here are some common answers to questions about Google Classroom.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

The course is based on the coursebook Entre Nous 3 (ISBN 978‑84‑19236‑61‑6), Units 6-8. Please note that not all activities in the book may be covered during the course.

We recommend waiting until after the first class before purchasing the coursebook.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

French 3 Upper: Module 1 is starting soon. We recommend enrolling early, as spaces are limited.
