What is the course about?
This course aims to further improve your intermediate French, at a gentle pace. You will build up your confidence by learning the language gradually with the emphasis on speaking and listening. You will increase your fluency and the course will give you a greater insight into French life and culture.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
These may vary according to the needs and interests of the group, but will generally include:
topics: talking about your projects; giving advice; discussing current affairs.
grammar: consolidation of future and conditional tenses; if clauses.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- have more confidence in your ability to understand and be understood in French
- understand the main theme, and some detailed information in written and aural texts
- discuss and give your opinion on current affairs
- ask and answer questions about your projects
- explain a problem and give advice

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
The course is suitable for those who have completed French 3 upper at a gentle pace: module 2, or anyone with a similar level who wishes to extend their knowledge at a gentle pace. It is also essential that you have some knowledge of basic grammar terminology (e.g. noun, adjective, conjugation, etc.).

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
The course is based on the tutor's own materials. You will be told in class if there are any helpful supplementary materials.

Estelle became interested in languages in secondary school, in France, where she had an inspiring and brilliant English teacher who made students speak the language for the whole lesson. This approach was quite ground-breaking at the time!
