What is Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is a digital learning platform where all the teaching and learning resources can be found. The content can only be accessed by students enrolled on that class.

How is Google Classroom used?

Google Classroom is used to organise and post course content. With Google Classroom you can:
•    access lesson summaries, homework, as well as activities and resources for self-study 
•    access key information about your course
•    reflect on your learning goals and your progress
•    notify the tutor about your absence
•    interact with other students
•    catch up with missed sessions.

How do I access Google Classroom?

You will receive instructions on how to access Google Classroom via email shortly before your course begins. If you need help accessing the platform, you can find instructions here >

Can I message the tutor via Google Classroom?

Please be aware that any communication by the students via Google Classroom is posted to everyone in your class so it is best not to share any personal or confidential information on this platform. Speak to the tutor directly, before or after your class.

What if I’m planning to travel abroad during my course?

If you normally reside in the UK and you plan to access your Google Classroom from another country, please contact us to request overseas access >

Please note: Zoom is accessible from anywhere in the world.

My class is in person. Do I really need Google Classroom?

Tutors of in-person classes running for 5 hours or longer also use Google Classroom to post resources and other content. You may miss out on materials if you do not access it. For shorter classes, it is up to the tutor to decide whether to use it or not.

I am worried about privacy: which details are shared on Google Classroom?

The tutor and your fellow students will only see your name and surname – no other information (e.g. email address) is shared. Any feedback that the tutor may give you on progress, homework or assignments is private between you and the tutor. Only the tutor can message individual students; students cannot contact each other privately.
