What is the course about?

Instagram is a photo and video sharing platform that you can use to grow and develop your business. This course will serve as an introduction to using Instagram even if you have never used it or any other social media platform before. Set up an account and join the masses who are sharing photos for business and personal fun!

• Signing up for an account
• Taking a photo and opening a photo from the camera roll in Instagram
• Settings overview
• Editing photos
• Enhance your photos with filters
• What is a hashtag? How to use them?

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Have a good grasp of Instagram and how to use it with confidence
Be ready to take a course on how to use Instagram for Business, if required.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

No prior knowledge of Instagram is required, but you should have a smart phone with the application downloaded. You should be able to use your smart phone confidently without instruction.
You should be able to follow spoken instructions, read written instructions and information, and discuss work with your tutor in English.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Each student has their own computer however most of the work will happen through the student’s smartphone. The course consists of discussions, demonstrations and practical examples. One to one guidance and support will be given throughout.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You should have access to your existing social media account(s) and remember to remember to bring with you the log in details. If you don’t have existing account(s) you will need to bring a valid email address and it’s password to sign up for a new account. This will help you to practice the course content during the class and gain valuable hands-on experience.

Amber Raney-Kincade

Amber holds an MBA in International Marketing, and previously worked as a Marketing Manager and Account Director for various marketing agency in London, where she was an early adopter in using social media in campaigns with high success. After the recession in 2009, she started teaching adults how to use social media to promote their business, often working with career changers who were switching gears after being made redundant to start their own businesses. She began teaching social media at City Lit in 2015. Her approach is dynamic and engaging, vowing to make the scary world of social media accessible to everyone from the tech-savvy to the technophobe!
