Have you been working in the health, social care, youth or community sector for sometime? Or have you been volunteering and would like to gain paid work? This course will help you to develop your confidence and skills to apply for roles that have more responsibility.
This course comprises of 2 qualifications. The level 1 award in developing confidence and self awareness, and the level 2 award in leadership skills, so on successful completion of this course you will receive two certificates. These have been chosen to provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to progress into leadership roles in health and social care based roles.

What is the course about?

The purpose of this course is to develop the leadership skills of learners, to apply in the workplace and other situations, thereby enhancing their prospects of gaining employment or progressing with their studies, or within their current role, whether employed, voluntary or as an active citizen. It aims to provide learners with a greater knowledge of leadership skills and the confidence to apply and develop them in a variety of contexts such as work, education, leisure, and in the community. It is intended to enhance the personal growth and employability of learners.

What will we cover?

You will cover two units:
developing personal confidence and self awareness
developing leadership skills

These will both be in the context of health, social care, youth or community roles. We will aim to make this relevant to the roles of the learners within the group.

These qualifications provide learners with a greater knowledge of leadership skills and the confidence to apply and develop them in a variety of contexts such as work, education, leisure, and in the community. Learners will understand the reasons for feeling confident or unsure of themselves, how to participate more effectively in social situations and manage stress, and how to set goals that increase their self-confidence.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a level 1 and level 2 course. Learners will need to complete a literacy assessment to a level 1 standard to complete this course. You will need to have sufficient digital skills in order to access materials and complete and hand in assignments online.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught in a variety of ways. We aim to create a learning community on our courses and so collaborative learning and sharing is essential. There will be coursework to complete to pass the course and we recommend setting aside at least 2 hours of work per week to complete this.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

There are no other costs, but you will need a notepad and pen.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Once you have finished you can apply for leadership roles in your chosen area and also other courses at city lit.
