What is the course about?
This course is about the health and social care sector, including hospitals, care homes, and community centres. The course is about the skills and knowledge needed to work in health and social care for example, safeguarding.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.

What will we cover?
The Level 2 certificate covers three mandatory units:
Equality diversity and rights in health and social care
Human growth and development
Safeguarding and protection in health and social care.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
By the end of the course, learners will be equipped with knowledge and understanding across a range of key subject areas. This includes, equality, diversity and rights, human growth and development and the roles and responsibilities of the health and social care worker.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a level 2 course. No previous experience is required, but you will need to take a literacy quiz to ascertain your literacy level. We encourage applications for learners with lived experience in homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction and mental health.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Classes will use a variety of teaching methods, including discussions, presentations, group work, role play and lecture style classes. You will be required to complete work outside of class, we recommend up to 5 hours a week.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
There are no extra costs. We do recommend you bring a pen and note pad to lessons.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
When you have finished you may be able to progress onto one of our other level 2 courses like youth work, information, advice or guidance, mental health or peer mentoring. You can also apply for level 3 courses in other colleges and educational settings. You may also look at support roles in health and social care settings and voluntary organisations.
