What is the course about?

Many studies have shown that the ancient Buddhist techniques of mindfulness can help people who feel that their lives are out of control, or that they are too busy to really savour their lives. Mindfulness has also been found to be effective in dismantling ‘bad or sad’ moods, and helpful in controlling overwhelming feelings. The course is based around meditation and practical techniques for developing mindfulness and awareness.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone can be used if you don't have a computer but please note the experience may be less optimal.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

A variety of meditation techniques from the Buddhist tradition will be practised, including sitting and mindfulness in movement. The main focus will be the body, thoughts, feelings, and communication, but the course will be also concerned with specific applications of mindfulness such as walking, listening, eating and more. Students will be expected to commit to practising between classes.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Recognise the principles of mindfulness and its applications in daily life
- Gain more control over your emotional life
- Manage life challenges more effectively through the practice of mindfulness
- Deepen your meditation practice through mindfulness.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
