What is the course about?

You will consolidate your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and will work towards achieving greater fluency.
You will develop your competence in reading and will expand your knowledge of Greek culture.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Consolidation of advanced grammatical structures
Development of vocabulary
Development of competence in reading
Enhancement of fluency
A variety of topics which reflect the interests of the group (this will be discussed and negotiated in the first session).

By the end of this course you should be able to...

-use advanced grammatical structures
-know a greater range of vocabulary related to topics
-express yourself with enhanced accuracy and fluency
-be able to read with more fluency.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an advanced course. It is an ideal follow-up for students who have previously completed level 3 or
who have acquired an equivalent knowledge of the language.

You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and read course documents in English and be at ease with the use of number for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time, etc).

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

Eleni Dalkafouki

Growing up in a family of teachers, Eleni was drawn to teaching from an early age. As a child she already knew would become a teacher as she always enjoyed sharing knowledge with friends and family and helping them to learn. She grew up in Greece, and moved to Spain to study at university, where she spent 10 years altogether. She studied Hispanics at the University of Malaga where she also completed a Master's degree in Spanish Linguistics. In 2010, Eleni moved to London where she continued her studies and developed her career as a teacher in Spanish and Modern Greek. She has worked for various state and private schools, in different educational environments and with students from all ages and levels. Eleni also furthered her studies by completing a PGCE course in languages from the Institute of Education and an MTeach degree from University College London. "What I love most about my work is preparing engaging resources which help students to advance and enjoy learning".
