What is the course about?

This course will uncover how top players make their decisions at the board. We look at the games of chess greats such as Capablanca, Fischer, Karpov and Carlsen. Each week a different theme will be explored in some depth.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

Topics include the art of attack, strategic choices, planning and endgame nuances.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is suited for more experienced players but less experienced players are welcome too.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course will be delivered online through tutor presentation and demonstration, using illustrative model games, and discussion. NB: there will be no chess played during the sessions, but the tutor will provide information about online chess-playing opportunities, and will provide examples and exercises for you to work through on your chess boards in between classes.
