What will we cover?

.Topics include the art of attack, strategic choices, planning and endgame nuances.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

At the end you will have absorbed some of the deeper principles of chess which will increase your understanding and ability.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is suited for more experienced players but less experienced players are welcome too. Students should be able to use chess notation and be playing regularly online. They should be comfortable discussing the basic features of grandmaster games such as opening, middlegame and endgame and be familiar with more advanced ideas such as development and planning.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught online through a combination of tutor demonstration, discussion and Q&A. NB: there will be no chess played during the sessions, but the tutor will provide information about online chess-playing opportunities, and will provide examples and exercises for you to work through on your chess boards in between classes.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No other costs. You might want to have notetaking material to hand.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
