What is the course about?
We will consider the concept of the shadow as defined by Jungian Psychology and you'll be invited to explore aspects of your own dark side from a personal and collective standpoint. We will work from the perspective that the more we can understand about ourselves the less we need to fear.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
In addition to the basic theories of Jung and other Depth Psychologists we will consider the importance of archetypes and the meaning of terms such as: extrovert, introverts and synchronicity.
You will be encouraged to interpret their work in relation to your own experience and learn through this as you share the experiences of others.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Explain how and where the Psychology of Jung fits into the history of the unconscious.
Outline the basic principles of Jungian Psychology.
Identify at least one positive aspect which you've gained through greater understanding and exploration of your own shadow.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
No particular skills required except the importance of valuing your own experience - please bring an open mind.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Through teacher input in seminar style. Handouts to help explain psychological terms and aid the interpretation process.
