What is the course about?
Led by a professional actor, director and seasoned screen acting tutor you will discover the fundamental technical skills required for acting to the camera in this interactive course.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
In this key session, you will look at the basic technical adjustments and skills required for working on camera and consider how we deliver character with authenticity and truth in a technical environment.
Please note that acting classes by their very nature can involve exercises and the exploration of material that some students may find challenging.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a general level course. A willingness and openness to learn are the only requirements. If you have never acted before you may prefer to enrol onto our taster course in acting – DRF008 Acting online.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Communicate clearly in discussion and drama practice.
• Read and respond to a variety of text.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Take notes.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Your tutor will teach though a variety of techniques during this online course that may include individual, group and pair work.
As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Stephen has been teaching acting and screen acting to students and professionals for over seven years and has taught at The Method Studio, The Actor’s Centre and Drama Centre London. Stephen trained at the Drama Centre London and as an actor has had a wide breadth of experience playing leading roles in feature films, television dramas and on stage. Best known for playing Lysander Hawkley in ITVs The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous, Greg Kelly in Coronation Street (for which he won a British Soap Award) and most recently Danny Lomax in Hollyoaks, he continues to work in independent movies and in theatre, enjoying classical roles as well as those in challenging new writing.
